What To Expect

What To Expect

First session jitters?  You and I both!  We’re meeting each other for the first time and we can be a little anxious about it – it’s okay.  One of the biggest reasons why we may be a bit nervous is because we’re not sure what to expect.  Hopefully, the following information can help.  During your initial visit, we will need to review the paperwork to be filled out. Don’t stress!  You can take it home after the sessions and bring it back, completed, at your next appointment.  One of the main goals of the first session is to go over this paperwork with you and address any concerns/questions you may have.

The second goal of our first meeting is so that I can try my best to understand what brought you in.  It may be difficult to open up at first and share some of your concerns, I understand that.  It may take more than one session or appointment.  No pressure, promise!  We’ll go at your pace to make sure you feel completely understood - your history, background, concerns, worries, etc.

One very importance piece of information - it is important I get your feedback on treatment goals you would like to work on in your treatment. This gives you and I a good foundation on which we can strengthen our therapeutic relationship and build upon your therapy goals. Open and honest communication is vital to this process.
